Computing for Labour (CFL) is a membership organisation which exists to promote and support the use of IT within The Labour Party.
In response to demand from Labour MPs, CFL designed a software package – CFL Caseworker - to provide an efficient way of dealing with the large number of constituents' cases coming to MPs. CFL Caseworker can legitimately be paid for out of the MP’s office cost allowance because dealing with constituents problems is a normal function of an elected representative.
The financing of the software is kept separate from any Labour Party campaigning systems run by CFL. The House of Commons Fees Office is fully aware of the service offered and its financing.
All party political work undertaken by CFL is covered by a grant it receives from The Labour Party. CFL is revenue neutral and does not hand over any of its income to the Labour Party other than a nominal sum for office space and services. |
